Much of the city sits on shrink-swell clay over caliche. The clay moves with every wet and dry cycle: cracked decking, shifted coping, shells needing structural attention sooner than they would elsewhere. Caliche is also why excavation on a new build needs planning, not optimism.

We size to the pool: volume, flow and layout decide the pump, filter and heater spec. An undersized pump runs constantly and an oversized one strains the plumbing, so guessing costs you either way.
